ABOUT ME

Prior to becoming an independent website designer I gained the majority of my professional experience in the education sector in the UK. Working first as a History teacher at secondary level, and then as the Operations Manager for an international summer school at Cambridge University, and finally as a consultant for an education organisation in Beijing, China.

The lockdowns of 2020 - 2021 marked a sharp pivot away from the in-person learning that had fuelled my passion in education. With an abundance of free time, I began exploring new creative outlets and learning opportunities.

Four years later and I have built a career that is varied, creative and ultimately very fulfilling. It enables me to travel, it challenges me to stay on top of the latest technological developments, and it combines my love for teaching with creativity and careful planning. All this to say, I love what I do.

MY EXPERIENCE

I stumbled into website design by accident. While running a summer school I often found myself writing content for the website, updating details, amending design elements and gradually learning how websites are structured.

In my role as a consultant, the company website needed a complete overhaul. With my graphic design experience I was elected as the person for the job and I once again deepened my understanding of what’s possible online.

Finally came the day when I would build not one but two websites from scratch. During a chance encounter with an artist, the conversation turned to the problems she was having with the online elements of her business. After hearing my suggestions for solutions I suddenly found myself hired to build two websites.

Since then friends, family and now strangers have turned to me for a new website, a design refresh, troubleshooting, marketing support, social media, digital stock management solutions, business efficiency, the list goes on. My preferred platform for website design is Squarespace but I can also work with WordPress, Wix, GoogleSites, Webflow and many others according to your preference and your needs.

At every opportunity, I take huge satisfaction in passing on some of what I have learned and giving others the confidence to edit and manage their own websites.

MY PROCESS

The exact process will depend on your particular requirements but as an indication, here’s what you can expect:

1) A free consultation to find out more about you, your business, and your website needs. We’d also discuss aesthetics, branding and any sources of inspiration that you like to draw from.

2) I draw up a schedule of works that outlines costs, any functionality limitations you should be aware of, and any content that I will need from you, such as photos and copy for the website.

3) If you are happy with the plan, you sign a service agreement and I get to work building your website. It’s likely that I’ll be in touch with you throughout this process to confirm details and get clarity on any questions that arise as I’m working.

4) Review and revise. I invite you to review the initial build. Take your time and let me know your feedback. I then implement any changes you have requested to finalise your website.

5) Handover. This is the most important step. I will teach you how your website is structured, how to edit content, how to add new products, and equip you with the skills and confidence to be able to manage your website.

6) Your website goes live! And if you hit any bumps or snags, I remain available to help you.

PRICING

Every project is unique, and therefore so is my pricing.

That’s not helpful for someone wondering what budget they need for a new website. Sorry!

I specialise in creating websites for small businesses and understand that you don’t have the budget of an international corporation.

My pricing is very fair and based on the complexity, and therefore amount of time and skill, that your website requires.

As an indication, I have worked on projects big and small with budgets ranging from 250USD to 6000USD.
